Point your camera at a restaurant receipt. DipOut reads the subtotal, tax, and printed tip suggestions, then checks whether those tips were calculated on the pre-tax or post-tax total. If the suggestion includes the tax, it recalculates a fair tip on the subtotal and splits the bill evenly between however many people you choose.
Try scanning in good lighting with the receipt flat on a surface. Tap the shutter button only when the document outline turns solid. You can also tap "Use Photo" to pick an image from your library instead.
On the Review screen, tap any number to edit it manually before proceeding to the results.
Some receipts pre-fill tip suggestions by applying the percentage to the total (subtotal + tax) rather than just the subtotal — often simply the payment terminal's default setting. That means you're effectively tipping on your tax. DipOut catches this and shows you what the tip would be on the subtotal alone.
